My Partner practices my hair style.

Review of my Partner's interpretation of my hair design.

I think for a first attempt Annie, my partner, did really well practicing the cornrows. She did the exact amount that i wanted as well as  creating neat and thick sections of hair. because my hair is so straight and shiny we had an issue with making the plaits look thick enough and raised. However after crimping and hair spraying my hair it became more pliable.

I think Annie could have made the cornrows more the same length however this is something that can be easily changed in the next trial.

I think Annie also did a good job with the backcombing to create the texture and volume i need for my design. This effect really creates the urban Elizabethan style i was hoping for.

I think the pinning was good for a first attempt however i feel like the hair needs to be more secure as there were parts that were falling out at the back. I also think the sections could have been neater however, i think the volume is a good weight/ height and it creates the overall desired effect i want for my design.

To create an even more urban effect i wanted to stick down my baby hairs to create a very neat and structured design that adds to my urban interpretation of an Elizabethan hairstyle.  Annie did struggle with placing the hair in perfect coils however i then tried and found it equally as hard and i used Vaseline and hair wax. We have been recommended to use hair gel so in the next trial i think me and Annie will try this out to find the best way to create the effect.

Overall i think that my look was practiced well by Annie and that she produced the desired look i had intended to create. I had very positive feedback from peers after they saw the finished look in the Practical lesson so i think my design is on the right track and now needs to be perfected and also Annie will need to time herself doing it to make sure that she has enough time to complete it during the timed assessment. I will also need to buy some plait bands because the hair bands used in this practice are too thick and so aren't that easy to hide. I also want to have the embellishment of pearls to add and incorporate more symbolism from Elizabethan styles of hair.
